Ex Classical Numismatic Group 54 (14 June 2000), lot 722 and front cover.Lycia was nominally under Persian rule in the late 5th century, but it was practically independent as long as it paid annual tribute to Persia. Ruled by dynasts, their abundant coinage testifies to the great prosperity of Lycia. During this period the Lycian alphabet came into widespread use.
